Study of Steel Slag Filter Unit as a Secondary Treatment System for Removing Total Phosphorus from Textile Industry Wastewater

چکیده
Eutrophication is one of the global concerned due to algae bloom in natural surface water such as lakes and swamp area. Industrial effluent with incomplete treatment discharged has become main culprits this phenomenon. Approximately, 0.3 – 13 mg/L total phosphorus can be found final discharge industrial showing that existing including an activated carbon filter (ACF) limitation polishing phosphorus. Therefore, 16 week study been designed alternative removal at secondary stage replace tertiary by using steel manufacturing by-product media for effective from textile industry wastewater. Two units lab-scale vertical slag (SSF) systems under aerated unaerated conditions have developed study. The samples were collected analysed biweekly selected parameters pH, alkalinity, DO TP. results obtained show a high efficiency TP which ranged 46% 70% compared SSF 37% 66%. Besides, ACF was 36% 54%. Thus, use removing wastewater possible used both systems. Furthermore, mechanism involved likely precipitation adsorption.

Recent developments in phosphorus (P) removal have focused on P reactive materials to use within constructed wetlands (CW), as a sustainable alternative to chemical dosing. In this study, different fractions of Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) steel slag and apatite media have been tested in full-scale CWs, being the first trial of its kind in the United Kingdom evaluating the P removal capacity of b...

Due to an increase of the human population on Earth, log of pollutants to water resources has increased and this caused the more restriction of water resources for human. Limited availability of fresh water resources, especially in the Middle East that have arid and semi-arid climate increases the importance of water recycling. The main problem in many conventional wastewater treatment systems ...
متن کاملTextile Wastewater Treatment Using Sawdust as Adsorbent
The role of sawdust in the removal of pollutants from textile wastewater has been investigated. The textile wastewater was treated by using sawdust as adsorbent and then filtered. The various physicochemical characteristics of sawdust treated and untreated textile effluent were analyzed. The maximum percent removal of 37% was observed for total suspended solids while minimum removal of 9% for c...
